I still love Jack White
I do love the White Stripes, but the Raconteurs might be my favorite reincarnation of Jack White's music career.

Karen O-Crush Songs
This album isn't new, or even new to me, but I've been listening to it a lot lately. Karen O was/is the lead singer for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I don't know if you'll like all the songs, but I think there are a few you'd be into and I think you'll like her genuineness (genuity? not sure of noun form) and the raw quality of her music.

Oldish Albums I've been relistening to lately
The Reminder by Feist
I forgot how much I like this one. I think Feist is always really good at showing a range of sounds and feelings, but with a consistency throughout. She tries a bunch of different kinds of things, but she's still Feist.
and then nothing turned itself inside out by Yo La Tengo
Yo La Tengo truly has it (haha, horrible Spanish pun..) Anyway, This album just makes me feel so many feelings and I imagine you've both heard it. (Sara might have been the one to tell me about Yo La Tengo, though, regrettably, I can't remember if it is because you like them or dislike them).

Dixie Chicks
Okay, so I know this isn't usually your kind of thing, but I'm curious to see what you think. As I was telling Andrew earlier in the car, I don't think you'd be into their earlier stuff, but this album is pretty amazing. I think the songs are really strong lyrically and I love the music too.It is a really cohesive album.
You won't hurt my feelings if you don't like it, but I'm curious about your opinions.
Taking the Long Way
My favorites are Not Ready to Make Nice, Lullaby (!), Voice Inside Your Head, and I Hope.
Plus, Not Ready to Make Nice has a really cool music video and interesting back story. Basically, Natalie Maines said she was not a fan of President Bush publicly and there was a huge backlash from the country music fandom. She stood her ground, maintaining that she was anti-war.
If you aren't feeling it (or perhaps if you are), two members of the band created another group called Courtyard Hounds. They play more folksy, bluegrassy music. I like them too.

Brandi Carlile
Brandi Carlile has been a favorite of mine for a few years. She's folksy, a little country, a little rock and roll. I love how her songs have so much heart and her recordings have the raw, genuine quality of a live show.
I'm a big fan of her whole discography, but I'll put my highlights here.
Closer to You, Brandi Carlile (2005)
really adorable song about long distance relationships (hey! I know somebody in one of those :p) This was the first song of hers that I heard.
The Story (2007)
I keep this album in my car and I really like it. These are some of my favorites off of it.
The Story -I love the lyrics and how it builds and really everything about it
Josephine -sad, but really beautiful
Have You Ever-this song gives me the feeling that New England gives me
Cannonball
More Songs
Dreams -I didn't know there was a music video, this is great.
Wherever Is Your Heart -off her latest album, so many feelings
The Things I Regret-another new one, it's different from her earlier stuff but I really like it
